Advertised Summary Job DescriptionThe incumbent performs all billing, collection and appeal activities including reviewing claims for accuracy and completeness, correcting any deficiencies, ensuring timely filing of claims to insurance companies and patients; contacting insurance companies to expedite payments of outstanding claims and processing appeals for denials and rejections. Follows up on electronic claims submissions utilizing E-commerce and other available systems. Performs other related duties as assigned.  
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Candidate must have a minimum of two years of college or completion of secretarial school or equivalent business experience, plus a minimum of two to three years related experience.

Experience with IDX required.

Applicant must be computer literate with working knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel, IDX, medical billing and collections. The person filling this position should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to meet deadlines, must be detail oriented and have a high level of accuracy, and be familiar with computerized reports.

Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree desirable.

Fluency in Spanish preferred.  
Essential Functions40% - Contact insurance companies to expedite payments of outstanding claims and prepare appeals for denials and rejections.

20% - Review and correct accounts on edit lists generated by Medicare, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, E-Commerce and TES.

20% - Handle customer service inquiries from patients and insurance companies and complete all the appropriate follow-up.

15% - Reviews and answers requests for recoupment from insurance companies and prepares refunds as needed.

5% - Perform similar and related duties as assigned.
